In 99 Nights in the Forest, Chests are interactable objects found inside structures around the map that provide players with random loot. The value of the loot increases depending on the rarity of the chest variant. Players can also uncover dirt to get directions to hidden chest locations.

📦 Standard Chests

These chests are found throughout the main game world.

  • Common Chest: The most common chest. It’s a small, wooden box that can drop basic survival items like a Bandage, Good Sack, Spear, or a Revolver.
  • Good Chest: The second most common variant, visually distinguished by a cylindrical lid.
  • Iron Chest: The third most common chest, appearing similar to a Good Chest but with a metal frame.
  • Legendary Chest: An uncommon chest with a smooth wooden design and gold accents, containing higher-end items.
  • Gold Chest: A very rare chest found deep in the forest, containing highly valuable loot such as the Morningstar.
  • Ruby Chest: The rarest chest in the game, often found in the Cultist Stronghold. It uniquely downgrades to a Gold Chest after one player opens it.
  • Diamond Chest: This chest is only obtainable by clearing all enemies in the Cultist Stronghold and always drops 5 Diamonds, which are used as currency in the lobby.

👽 Event-Specific Chests

These chests are only available through specific game events.

  • Alien Chest: This chest is only obtainable by defeating the Mothership boss. It drops unique, high-tech loot such as the Alien Armor, Laser Sword, and Laser Cannon.
  • Cold Chest: This chest is only obtainable from snow biomes, you have to break the ice first with an Axe, then you can open the chest.
  • Ice Chest: This chest is only obtainable from polar bear’s cave and ice temple. You have to break the ice first with an Axe, then you can open the chest.
