CHATTANOOGA, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department has given the “ALL CLEAR” for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) campus following an investigation into reports of shots fired on Thursday. Lockdowns that were in effect for both the UTC campus and city buildings have now been lifted.
Authorities confirmed that after a thorough search, law enforcement found no evidence of a threat. An earlier update from the police department noted that they had not located any victims while investigating the reports.
The lockdown for city buildings was lifted as of 1:51 p.m. on August 21, 2025, allowing all city facilities to return to normal operations. The all-clear for the UTC campus followed shortly after.
The Chattanooga Police Department has directed any media on campus to the parking lot by the UTC Police Department for a briefing.
