Actor Christian Bale is bringing a long-held, passionate vision to life with the creation of “Together California,” a pioneering foster care village in Palmdale, California. The multi-million dollar project is designed with a specific and heartfelt mission: to ensure that siblings in the foster care system are not separated and can grow up together in a stable, supportive community.

The ambitious initiative, which has been in development for over 16 years, broke ground in early 2024 and is steadily moving toward its goal of welcoming its first children by early 2026.
A Village Designed for Connection and Stability
The “Together California” village is being constructed on a nearly 5-acre lot and is meticulously planned to foster a sense of community and security. The estimated $22-30 million project will feature:
- Twelve family-style homes, each designed to house up to six children, allowing larger sibling groups to remain under one roof.
- Two studio apartments to provide transitional housing for youth who are aging out of the foster care system, or to temporarily house birth parents working toward reunification.
- A 7,000-square-foot community center that will serve as the heart of the village, offering enrichment programs, tutoring, and counseling services.
A key component of the model is the use of full-time, professionally trained foster parents who will live in the homes and be dedicated solely to the care of the children, ensuring a consistent and nurturing environment.
A 16-Year Mission to Help Children
Christian Bale’s commitment to this cause began over 16 years ago after the birth of his first daughter. The thought of what might happen to his children and the potential for them to be separated sparked a desire to address the crisis in the foster care system, particularly in Los Angeles County, which has the highest number of children in foster care in the nation.
To bring this vision to reality, Bale co-founded the non-profit “Together California” with Dr. Eric Esrailian, a physician and producer. The project is supported by a mix of public and private funding, including significant contributions from the City of Palmdale, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, and individual donors like Leonardo DiCaprio. Bale himself has been deeply involved in every step, from site selection to design, calling it one of the most important achievements of his life.
