Unlocking The Depths: A Worthy Challenge

The Depths is an endgame area for a reason, and its entrance is sealed to all but the most accomplished fishermen. Before you can even think about casting a line here, you must meet a specific set of demanding requirements.

### Step 1: Achieve 100% Vertigo Bestiary

Your journey to The Depths begins in the preceding biome, Vertigo. To prove your worth, you must first achieve 100% completion in the Vertigo Bestiary, meaning you have to catch every single fish native to that zone. Interestingly, there is a small workaround for this: if you obtain the Vertigo-native fish through trading with other players, it can count towards the completion requirement, potentially saving you some time.

### Step 2: Obtain The Depths Key

Upon completing the Vertigo Bestiary, you will be rewarded with The Depths Key. This crucial item is your ticket into the hidden zone.

### Step 3: Find The Keeper and Open the Gate

With The Depths Key in your inventory, head to the Vertigo zone and look for an area with prominent glowing red crystals. Nearby, you will find a sealed door and an NPC named

The Keeper standing beside it. To open the gate, you must ensure The Depths Key is

unfavorited in your inventory and then speak to The Keeper.

client-sided. This means that only the player who performs the action of opening it can enter; you cannot follow another player inside. After speaking to The Keeper, you will have to complete a short obby with falling platforms to finally enter the main area of The Depths.

day. Most of the fish in The Depths, especially the more common ones, can only be caught at night. Because of this, if you use a rod with a high luck stat during the daytime, the game is forced to spawn a high-rarity fish since the lower-rarity options are unavailable. This trick significantly increases your chances of landing Rare, Legendary, and Mythical catches.

### Rods, Mutations, and Riches

The Depths is the best location for taking advantage of Mutation-based rods, with the

Trident Rod and the Rod of the Depths being top choices, especially when paired with an Abyssal or Quantum Enchant. Using this strategy, players report earning an average of 50,000 to 150,000 C$ every 15 minutes. The zone also features a higher base catch rate for Mythical rarity fish compared to other areas.

Furthermore, The Depths has a boosted catch rate for

• Unlocking the Maze: To open the entrance, you must place two specific Enchant Relics—Abyssal and Hexed—onto their designated pedestals. Just like the main gate, another player placing the relics for you will not work.
• Navigating the Maze: This area is notoriously difficult to navigate, even for players equipped with the Advanced Diving Gear. It is highly recommended to watch a video guide while making your attempt.
• The Reward: At the very end of the maze, you will find the Rod of the Depths, which can be purchased for 750,000 C$. Behind the statue where you buy the rod, a hidden passage contains a whirlpool that will conveniently teleport you back to the main area near the Merchant NPC.
