Finding the Gagabyte

Your first task is to travel to Ancient Isles. Once there, you need to search the ground for a small, isopod-like bug NPC. This unassuming creature is the Gagabyte, the namesake and starting point of the entire quest.

The Clue

The Gagabyte is a unique NPC. When you click on it, it will display one of over 51 different random lines of dialogue. Most of these lines are just flavor text, but your goal is to keep interacting with it until it reveals the crucial clue. Eventually, the Gagabyte will give you a line of dialogue that instructs you to type your Roblox user ID backwards into the in-game chat. Your user ID is the long string of numbers found in the URL of your Roblox profile, not your display name.

The Reward

Once you correctly type your reversed user ID into the chat and press enter, you will be rewarded with the Dev String Skin, a secret cosmetic skin for the Cinder String fishing rod.

Important Note for New Players: The Cinder String is a rare rod that many newer or returning players might not have. Do not worry! You do not need to own the Cinder String to complete this step. The crucial part is successfully entering the code and having the game award you the skin. This action is what flags your account as having completed Step 1, allowing you to progress in the hunt.

Step 2: The Great Unsolved Mystery (Current Progress)

This is where the hunt currently stands. In the last 24 hours, the community has uncovered three separate, seemingly disconnected secret areas and clues across the game world. The current challenge is to figure out how these pieces fit together to unlock the next part of the quest. Here is a breakdown of each discovery.

Clue A: The Microscopic Lever in Moosewood

For a very long time, players have been mystified by a strange indentation on the wall of a blue building in Moosewood, which looked like a sealed-off doorway. As of a recent update, this has finally become an accessible secret room, and the method of entry is a fantastic callback for veteran players.

• How to Enter: Getting into this room requires using the /e pumpkin emote. Stand with your back pressed firmly against the indented wall, type /e pumpkin into the chat, and as the emote animation plays, your character will noclip directly through the wall into the secret room. This is the same clever exploit that players once used to bypass the key requirement to enter The Depths.
• Inside the Room: The room is filled with an overwhelming and absurd number of levers on every wall.
• The Solution: While it may seem like you need to find a complex combination, the solution is much trickier. All of the large, obvious levers are decoys. The correct lever is microscopic and hidden in plain sight around a corner. You will need to carefully scan the walls to find this tiny, almost invisible switch. Clicking this microscopic lever will cause a series of question marks (???) to appear in your chat, confirming that you have successfully triggered this part of the puzzle.

Clue B: The Secret Map Room in Birch Key

The next piece of the puzzle was discovered in the bunker on Birch Key, another location with a long history of community speculation about a hidden NPC under the map.

• How to Enter: Go inside the main bunker room. To the side, there is a large crate. You must stand on this specific crate, go into shift-lock, and then carefully jump off to the side. If done correctly, you will land in a hidden, narrow tunnel below the floor. Follow this tunnel, and you will walk through a false wall (disguised as a dresser) into another secret room that is designed to look like a building from Moosewood.
• Inside the Room: This room contains several crucial clues. On a table, you will find constellation charts for the Little Dipper and the Big Dipper, whose purpose is still unknown. More importantly, on another table is a large map of the entire game world. However, this map has been rotated 90 degrees to the right. For reference, Snowcap island, which should be at the top (north) of the map, is on the right side. The community is currently working hard to decipher what this rotated map might be pointing to.

Clue C: The Mysterious New Door in Mush Grove

The final clue was discovered in one of the game’s most well-hidden areas, the Carrot Garden.

• How to Find It: First, you must travel to Alligator Marsh in the Mush Grove area. Near the robot NPC, there is a small hole in the wall behind a large carrot. Crawl through this hole to enter the secret Carrot Garden.
• The Discovery: Inside the Carrot Garden, in one of the corners hidden behind three bushes, a brand-new, mysterious door has now appeared. This door is currently locked and inaccessible.
• The Purpose: The function of this door is the biggest unknown in the quest right now. It is almost certainly the gateway to the next major step of the ARG, but how to open it is the puzzle that the community is trying to solve.
