When I first tried installing Windows 11 on my older laptop, I hit the usual wall: no TPM 2.0, no Secure Boot, and an unsupported CPU. That’s when I discovered Flyby11. This little tool gave me a way to bypass Microsoft’s strict checks and upgrade smoothly. Here’s exactly how I did it, step by step.

How to Install Flyby11
Step 1 – Download Flyby11
I went straight to the Flyby11 GitHub page and grabbed the latest release. There are two versions available:
- Flyby11 Classic – a simple upgrade tool.
- Flyoobe – the newer version with extra features like debloating and Out-of-Box tweaks.
I personally chose the Classic version to keep things clean. Before you download, you might also check my guide on Windows optimization tips to prepare your PC.
Step 2 – Run the Tool
After extracting the zip, I ran Flyby11.exe. Windows Defender didn’t complain on the latest version, but earlier ones were sometimes flagged as PUA, so make sure you’re using the updated build.
If you’re unsure about cleanup before installation, you can also look into debloating tools since Flyoobe comes with built-in features for this.
Step 3 – Choose Upgrade Method
The app gave me the option for an in-place upgrade via Server setup. This is the trick Flyby11 uses: it launches the upgrade in “Server mode,” which skips the hardware checks that normally block older PCs.
I had previously tried registry hacks , but Flyby11 felt way smoother and less risky.
Step 4 – Get the ISO
I didn’t even have a Windows 11 ISO handy. Luckily, Flyby11 can fetch it automatically using its built-in downloader. Once it finished, I mounted the ISO directly from the tool.
For those who like manual control, I explain how to download Windows ISO safely in another post.
Step 5 – Install Windows 11
From there, the standard installer launched. It felt just like a normal Windows upgrade, except this time my unsupported hardware wasn’t a problem. After rebooting, I was looking at a fresh Windows 11 desktop.

Things I Noticed
- The installation process was surprisingly fast compared to other bypass tricks I’ve tried.
- Updates still work—for now. But since this is unsupported, I’m keeping an eye on whether Microsoft blocks future upgrades.
- For me, this was the smoothest way to give new life to an old laptop that otherwise would have been stuck on Windows 10.
That’s all it took—five simple steps. If you’ve got an older PC that you don’t want to give up yet, Flyby11 makes Windows 11 possible without registry hacks or messy scripts.
