You’ve seen Godzilla fight other monsters, but you’ve never seen him take on a whole universe of superheroes. In the new event series *Godzilla Destroys The Marvel Universe*, the King of the Monsters is set to face off against everyone from the Fantastic Four to the X-Men. According to the writer, it’s going to be the most exciting fight you’ve ever read.
💥 An Evergreen Smackdown
Unlike previous one-shots set in different time periods, this series takes place in the present day, using an “evergreen” characterization of Marvel’s heroes and villains. Writer Gerry Duggan says this was done so that even casual readers could pick up the book and be immediately immersed. The story begins in Manhattan, a crucial location in the Marvel Universe, before expanding to more obscure corners like the island nation of Madripoor and even Wakanda.
👊 A Fight You Won’t Believe
Duggan, who previously wrote a *Godzilla Vs Hulk* one-shot, says he was saving the best for this miniseries. “I may never top the fight between Hulk and Godzilla,” he admits, “except for the upcoming sequence that I can’t believe Marvel and [Godzilla owners] Toho approved for Wolverine. This is not a title you can be timid about!”. The series promises to live up to its name, with Godzilla truly set to destroy the entire Marvel universe.
❤️ A Story with Heart
Despite the massive scale of destruction, Duggan insists there’s a powerful emotional core to the story. “There’s a beating heart to this story and it’s in Godzilla’s chest but it’s also in Marvel’s First Family,” he teases. The Fantastic Four will play a central role, and the story will show the devastating cost of what happens if the heroes fail to stop the giant lizard. It’s a tale of epic destruction with a very human price.
