This guide explores two special pets from the history of Grow A Garden: the Dairy Cow, a clever limited-time pet from the Beanstalk Event, and the Red Dragon, a Mythical pet that was ultimately never released.🐮🐉
Table of Contents
The Dairy Cow (Limited Common Pet)
The Dairy Cow is a Common-tier pet with a surprisingly unique set of abilities. Though it’s a common pet, it was only available for a limited time and is highly sought after by collectors.
Availability: The Dairy Cow is no longer obtainable. It was exclusive to the Beanstalk Event and could be hatched from a Sprout Egg with a 50% chance.
A Unique Dual-Purpose Passive
The Dairy Cow offers two distinct benefits to its owner:
- Growth Boost: It provides a passive aura that makes all plants within a 10-stud radius grow 1.3x faster.
- Beanstalk Seed on Sell: In a unique twist, selling the Dairy Cow pet itself gives the player a small chance to receive a Beanstalk seed.
A Fairy Tale Reference 🌱
The Dairy Cow’s on-sell ability is a clever nod to the classic fairy tale “Jack and the Beanstalk.” Just like Jack traded his family cow for magic beans, players can trade their Dairy Cow for a chance at a Beanstalk seed. This was the first pet in the game to have an ability that activates upon being sold.
The Red Dragon (Unreleased Mythical Pet)
The Red Dragon is a Mythical-tier pet that was shown in development but was ultimately scrapped and never officially released to the public. It was only ever tested by developers and spawned by admins.
Planned Design: The Red Dragon was designed with vibrant red scales, a yellow belly, and bright yellow wings.
Planned Passive Ability: “Scorched Soil” 🔥
If it had been released, the Red Dragon’s passive ability would have been “Scorched Soil.”
- Planned Effect: It would occasionally set a random nearby fruit ablaze, applying the Burnt mutation to it.
The Dragon’s Legacy
While the Red Dragon itself never made it into the game for players, its spirit lives on! Its planned passive ability, “Scorched Soil,” was later given to the Cooked Owl pet. So, if you’ve ever seen a Cooked Owl apply the Burnt mutation, you’re seeing the legacy of the unreleased Red Dragon in action.
