Grow a Garden: A Guide to Limited Kappa and Brontosaurus Pets

This guide explores two powerful Mythical-tier pets from past events in Grow A Garden: the Kappa, a unique creature that specializes in water-based mutations, and the Brontosaurus, a massive dinosaur that improves the quality of your other hatching pets. Please note that both of these pets were from limited-time events and are no longer obtainable through their original methods. 💧🦕

The Kappa (Limited Mythical Pet)

The Kappa is a Mythical pet that was available during the Zen Event, where it could be hatched from a Zen Egg with a 3.5% chance.

Appearance & Folklore: The in-game Kappa is based on the famous creature from Japanese folklore. It has a green, child-sized body, a turtle shell on its back, a yellow beak, and a distinctive dish-like indent on its head used to carry water.

Passive Ability: “Water Spirit” ✨

The Kappa’s ability is a fantastic tool for applying and upgrading specific mutations.

  • Effect: Approximately every 8 minutes and 15 seconds, the Kappa sprays water on all fruits within a 21-stud radius. This has a powerful two-stage effect:
    1. It applies the Wet mutation to any nearby fruit that doesn’t already have it.
    2. If a fruit already has the Wet mutation, there is a 10% chance for the ability to upgrade it into the rare Bloodlit mutation.

The Brontosaurus (Limited Mythical Pet)

The Brontosaurus is a massive Mythical pet that was available during the Prehistoric Event. It could be hatched from a Dinosaur Egg with a 1% chance or acquired through the DNA Converter.

Appearance: The Brontosaurus is a classic long-necked dinosaur with a light-brown body and darker brown feet and neck.

Passive Ability: “Giant Incubator” 🥚

The Brontosaurus doesn’t help your crops directly; instead, it’s a master incubator that improves the other pets you hatch.

  • Effect: When you hatch a pet from an egg, the Brontosaurus’s passive provides a 5.2% to 20% increase to the new pet’s base size and weight.

Restrictions & Enhancements:

  • The size bonus is capped at 30% per egg.
  • This ability does not work on other Brontosauruses that you are hatching.
  • You can increase the percentage bonus by giving the Brontosaurus toys:
    • Small Toy: Adds +0.525% to the bonus.
    • Medium Toy: Adds +1.05% to the bonus.

Pro Tip: For the best possible new pets, pair the Brontosaurus with Ostriches when hatching eggs. The Brontosaurus boosts size and weight, while the Ostrich boosts the new pet’s starting age, creating a powerful combination.
