Grow A Garden – A Guide to the Elder Bean NPC

With the Beanstalk Event extension, a mysterious new character appeared in the world of Grow a Garden: the Elder Bean NPC. I was immediately curious about this strange new figure, located in the corner of the map near the Seed Shop. It turns out, this NPC is the key to the upcoming Admin Abuse War event.

The Elder Bean acts as a recruiter for a cause, offering players a chance to join and earn exclusive rewards by changing their appearance. This guide will cover everything you need to know about the Elder Bean, from its appearance to its interesting dialogue and trivia.

🌱 Appearance and Role

The Elder Bean has a very distinct look. It wears a ‘Medieval Hood of Mystery’ and has a ‘:3’ face on a light green skin tone. As a ‘Bean Cultist,’ its main role is to recruit players for the upcoming Admin Abuse War on August 23rd. When you interact with it, it offers you a chance to ‘join the cause’.

If you accept, the Elder Bean will prompt you to equip the ‘bean cultist’ avatar. This is the first NPC in the game with the ability to change a player’s avatar. I’ve noticed players have had fun moving the stationary NPC around the map using Artichoke scooters.

💬 Dialogue and Interactions

When you approach the Elder Bean, it greets you with, “Hello my beanling! What can I do for yоu?”. You are then presented with a few options. If you ask who it is, it will reply, “I’m the elder bean! I’m here to teach good boy sammy a lesson.”

If you choose “I want to join the cause,” you’ll be prompted to change into the bean avatar and receive your rewards: the Beanworks and the Bean Speaker. For those just starting out, check out this guide on getting started in the game.

💡 Trivia and Connections

The Elder Bean’s dialogue contains some fun inside jokes. The “good boy Sammy” it refers to is SpyderSammy, the creator of another popular Roblox game, “Steal a Brainrot.” Jandel, Grow a Garden’s developer, stated that starting a ‘war’ with him is part of the event’s fun. This is a reference to how players of the other game often call the creator “good boy” when he is using admin powers, which reportedly annoys him.
