Grow A Garden: The Buggy Nihonzaru Pet Explained

The Nihonzaru is a Rare, limited pet from the Zen Event that has a fascinating and troubled history in the game. It was obtainable from the Zen Egg with a 31% chance. Also known as the Japanese Macaque, its appearance is a simple light brown monkey.

For a long time, this pet’s main feature was that it was incredibly buggy, and it’s important for players to know that its ability currently does nothing.

♨️ The Bathe Time Trait (and Its Bugs)

The intended trait, Bathe Time, was that the Nihonzaru would sit in a Hot Spring and provide a small boost to all other pets’ passives. However, this has been bugged for a long time.

  • Currently, as of Version v1771, the pet just sits in the Hot Spring and provides no buffs at all.
  • Previously, there was a famous bug where using two Nihonzarus could drastically decrease another pet’s cooldown, which was a powerful exploit until it was patched.
  • There were also bugs related to multiple Nihonzarus needing separate Hot Springs to avoid issues.

I keep mine as a fun piece of game history, but I don’t use it for any practical purpose right now.
