Happy Gilmore 2 – Depressively Funny

In the first movie, Happy Gilmore was the lucky one. His grandmother taught him that being lucky is better than being the best. In this film, he loses everything. The lucky man is now the unluckiest person alive.

A Mirror to Our Times

Life was better in the 90s. In 2025, it is quite bad. For me, Gilmore 2 explains this transition perfectly. The opening felt like a summary of the last 30 years. It was filled with disaster, depression, and melancholy. Life is simply not what it used to be.

The Sandler Philosophy

When I watch Adam Sandler, I see the worst parts of life. But he makes me feel they can also be fun. It’s a realistic view. Honestly, I wish God was Adam Sandler. Our lives would be much more entertaining stories.

TikTok Pacing and a Deeper Story

The movie presents disasters in a funny and dramatic way. The pacing is fast, much like a TikTok video. It feels very appropriate for our current age.

I believe this film is about Sandler himself. He is a man devoted to his family, not someone who misses the 90s. He is living his final years when dramatic events pull him back into life. This re-entry is more depressive, but it’s told with that unique Sandler style of comedy.

A Classic Sandler Film, Not a Perfect Story

I must be clear. This film does not have a great, intricate plot. It is a classic Sandler movie. It shows the daily lives of simple, obsessive American people. It suggests that serious events are not always so serious. It presents a different kind of truth, straight from Sandler’s worldview.

I cannot say Happy Gilmore 2 is a great film. But it gave me a strange and interesting sense of nostalgia. It took me right back to the early 2000s.
