A mysterious, inert automaton deep in the Cogwork Core holds a secret, but its chest is empty. To awaken it, you must find the three scattered pieces of a Cogwork Heart, each guarded by a unique puzzle. This guide provides the step-by-step locations for all three Cogheart Pieces and explains what rewarding questline activating the automaton unlocks.

Prerequisite: Find the Inert Automaton

Before you begin, you must find the automaton that needs the heart.

1. Travel to Cogwork Core, accessible from the top of the Coral Chambers.
2. Descend to the very bottom of the area, avoiding spikes.
3. On the left side, you’ll find a pathway that requires a Double Jump to traverse.
4. Navigate up the platforms, double jumping to the right to break through a false wall.
5. Behind this wall, you will find the dormant Inert Automaton. Inspect it to discover its empty chest, initiating your quest for the three Cogheart Pieces.

Cogheart Piece Location #1: Coral Chambers Chime Puzzle

The first piece is located in the Coral Chambers.

• Where to Go: Head to the left side of the Coral Chambers (as shown on the map). Use your double jump to ascend a series of timed platforms moving with clockwork mechanisms.
• The Puzzle: You will enter a room with several chimes. When you stand on them, they ring in a specific sequence.
• Solution: Listen carefully. The puzzle has three rounds with increasing sequences:
  • Round 1: Hit 4 chimes in the order they ring.
  • Round 2: Hit 5 chimes in the new order.
  • Round 3: Hit 6 chimes in the final order.
• Successfully completing the sequence will reveal the first Cogheart Piece.

Cogheart Piece Location #2: Memoriam Pattern Puzzle

The second piece is hidden within Memoriam, north of the Coral Chambers.

• Where to Go: From the first shrine in Memoriam, use your double jump to access an upper area on the right. Continue right until you reach the far eastern edge of the map section.
• The Puzzle: You will find a room with a button and several lit panels on the floor.
• Solution: Step on the button to see a pattern light up. You must then dash onto the panels in the exact same order.
  • The patterns get longer with each success (4, then 5, then 6 steps).
  • The final pattern is complex, requiring you to hit panels in order: Top Left, Right, Bottom Left, Top Right, Bottom Right, Left.
• Solving the final pattern will reward you with the second Cogheart Piece.

Cogheart Piece Location #3: Whispering Vaults Light Puzzle

The final piece is in the deepest part of the Whispering Vaults.

• Where to Go: Descend to the absolute bottom of the Whispering Vaults. In a dark room on the eastern side, you will find the puzzle.
• The Puzzle: This puzzle involves repeating a sequence of lights in a dark environment, making some panels hard to see.
• Solution: This puzzle is forgiving. If you fail, you can retry it immediately as many times as needed. Observe the light pattern carefully and replicate it. Persistence is key here.
• Once completed, you will claim the third and final Cogheart Piece.

How to Use the Cogwork Heart and What It Unlocks

Once you have all three pieces, they will automatically combine into the complete Cogwork Heart.

1. Return to the Inert Automaton in the Cogwork Core.
2. Inspect it and choose to insert the Cogwork Heart.
3. This will activate the automaton, and it will spring to life and leave the area.

This is not the end of the questline. The automaton, now called the Second Sentinel Automaton, becomes a recurring NPC in the world.

• Where to Find It Next: Players often first encounter it actively fighting enemies on a large bridge in a later game area.
• Unlocking the Quest: After encountering it a few times and resting at benches, a new quest will appear on the Inspect Board in the Songclave. This questline will involve the automaton and yield valuable late-game rewards.
