How to Get the Cogfly Tool | High Halls Location Guide
The Cogfly is a powerful offensive tool in Hollow Knight: Silksong that summons small mechanical flies to automatically seek out and attack enemies. It excels at dealing passive damage while you focus on evasion or other attacks. This guide provides the fastest route to craft it in the High Halls, requiring mid-game traversal abilities.
Prerequisites
Before attempting this route, ensure you have:
- Reached Act 2 and obtained the Clawline (grapple hook) ability.
- The Faydown Cloak is highly recommended for easier navigation (though not strictly mandatory).
- At least 1 Craftmetal material to craft the tool.
Route to the High Halls Crafting Table
- Start at Grand Bellway: Begin from the Grand Bellway Fast Travel Station in the Citadel.
- Travel to Choral Chambers:
- Head west and up into a series of long horizontal chambers.
- At the end, jump up and out to the west of the tower, then go up and into the top east chamber (marked with a bench sign). Rest here.
- Ascend to the High Halls:
- Exit and drop down, entering the first western chamber.
- Ascend a tall vertical chamber. Take the western exit near the top.
- Continue west through one chamber, then up a vertical shaft with clockwork platforms.
- At the top, go east and up into a dilapidated corridor, then drop down and head east to return to the main shaft (this opens a shortcut).
- Go up and west to reach a bench checkpoint just outside the High Halls.
- Navigate the High Halls:
- From the bench, use the Clawline to ascend east.
- Pass through chambers, avoiding Maestros and Ministers.
- Use the Clawline to ride a spinning wheel upward, exiting through the top east.
- Navigate past more enemies to a second spinning wheel. This time, float down carefully through spikes.
- Use the Clawline to pull a lever mid-descent to open a barrier below.
- Repeat a similar process to open another barrier further down.
- Drop down and enter the western chamber, jump over a small pit, and interact with the workbench.
- Craft the Cogfly: Use your Craftmetal to construct the Cogfly tool.
Cogfly Tool Overview & Tips
- Function: Summons autonomous mechanical flies that seek out and attack nearby enemies. They require no manual input after deployment.
- Damage Scaling: The Cogfly’s damage scales with tool damage upgrades. With zero upgrades, it may seem weak, but with investments, it becomes a devastating automated weapon.
- Strategy: Ideal for applying passive pressure in busy combat scenarios or against agile bosses. Toss them out at the start of an encounter to chip away at foes while you focus on dodging or using other attacks.
- Exit Strategy: To leave, carefully float down through the spike corridors below the crafting room. At the bottom, you’ll find a bench, Map Station, and Ventrica Fast Travel for the High Halls.
The Cogfly is a standout tool for builds focusing on automation and area control. Its hands-off damage output makes it invaluable in challenging zones and boss fights, especially when upgraded.
