Hollow Knight: Silksong – How to Upgrade and Sharpen Hornet’s Needle

To upgrade your Needle and make it stronger, follow these steps:

Prerequisites

• Defeat the Shellwood boss.
• Unlock the Cling Grip ability (Hornet’s grip upgrade).

Step 1: Reach Bellhart

1. Head to the top-right section of Shellwood.
2. Move into Bellhart via the designated path.
3. Navigate carefully: avoid spikes and gaps while following the terrain.

Step 2: Fight the Boss in Bellhart

1. Traverse the area until you find a contraption leading to a boss arena.
2. Defeat the boss. This will save Bellhart.
3. After the fight, progress through the pathway to the bottom of Bellhart, reaching the central area where NPCs and shops are now active.

Step 3: Find the Needle-Sharpening NPC

1. Head to the top of the central area.
2. Enter the building where the NPC resides.
3. Speak with the NPC to access the needle sharpening option.

Step 4: Sharpen Your Needle

• Watch the animation of the Needle being sharpened.
• Once complete, your weapon is upgraded and renamed “Sharpened Needle”.

✅ Result: Your Needle now deals more damage and is visually upgraded. Perfect for taking on tougher enemies and bosses!
