So you’re unlocking your phone and boom — random news headlines are in your face. Annoying, right? Here’s how to nuke them depending on what’s causing it:
Table of Contents
1. Check if It’s Glance / Wallpaper Services
A lot of phones (Samsung, Xiaomi, Realme, etc.) sneak in “Glance” or “Wallpaper Carousel” that throws news on your lock screen.
Fix:
- Go to Settings → Wallpaper & style (or Lock screen).
- Look for Glance, Wallpaper services, or Wallpaper Carousel.
- Turn it off or set to None.
2. Disable Google Discover / News Feeds
Sometimes your lock screen news is just Google feeding you updates.
Fix:
- Long press on your home screen → Settings.
- Find Google Discover / Google Feed toggle.
- Switch it off.
3. App Notifications (News Apps)
Some random app (like Google News, Opera, or your phone’s default “Daily News” app) might be pushing it.
Fix:
- Go to Settings → Apps → select the news app.
- Tap Notifications → Turn off lock screen notifications.
4. Last Resort – Do Not Disturb
If you just want peace:
- Swipe down quick panel → Do Not Disturb.
- Customize it to block lock screen notifications.
✅ Done. No more cursed lock screen news.
