If you canāt find the emergency alerts option in your phoneās settings, thereās a little-known trick you can try on some Android phones. Open your phone-calling app and type
*#*#2627#*#*
.
On some phones, this will prevent emergency alerts from getting through, and youāll see a message that says āMobile broadcast testing mode is disabledā.
This allows you to rest easy knowing your vibrating phone wonāt disturb you. It wonāt affect other important alerts, so you wonāt miss out on important warnings.Remember, the alert is sent from phone masts, so your phone needs to be on a mobile network, not just Wi-Fi.
It also needs to be running a version of Android later than 11 or iOS later than 14.5.
So, if youāve done everything right and you still receive the alert, you can at least be confident that your phoneās settings are working as they should be.š” What About My Router?
