If you thought the first season of *Twisted Metal* was chaotic, buckle up. Season two is shifting gears to focus on the centerpiece of the franchise’s lore: The Tournament. Described by showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith as “Mad Max meets The Simpsons,” this season promises more cars, more characters, and a whole lot more carnage.
🏆 Welcome to The Tournament
The main event of season two is a high-stakes demolition derby hosted by the mysterious and dapper Calypso (Anthony Carrigan). This isn’t just a race; it’s a fight to the death with an ultimate prize on the line. “Well, people die,” Smith says bluntly. He promises each round will have a dangerous new twist, making it deadlier and more unpredictable than fans expect.
🚗 A Rogues’ Gallery of Drivers
A tournament needs contestants, and season two is bringing in the heavy hitters from the video games. Fans can expect to see iconic characters like Axel and his monstrous two-wheeled War Wheel, the skull-faced Mr. Grimm, and the devious Vermin. And of course, the psychotic clown Sweet Tooth is back, still played by Joe Seanoa and voiced by Will Arnett, ready to cause his unique brand of chaos.
💔 John and Quiet’s New Dynamic
The new season picks up eight months after the first, with John Doe (Anthony Mackie) and Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz) separated. John has been training in New San Francisco, while Quiet has become a key member of the all-female gang, The Dolls, led by John’s long-lost sister, Dollface. This reunion will be complicated, as Dollface remembers their past, but the amnesiac John remembers nothing. Their journey will explore what happens when two people who cared for each other are torn apart and then forced back together in the deadliest competition imaginable.
