The corvette is one of No Man’s Sky‘s most ambitious ship customization features, allowing you to literally build your starship from the ground up and freely walk around inside it during flight. This comprehensive guide covers everything from acquiring your first modules to designing a fully functional and decorated spacecraft, turning your corvette into a mobile base.

Where to Start: Finding the Corvette Terminal
Your journey begins at any Space Station.
- Dock at a space station and head to the Mission Agent.
- To the agent’s left, you’ll find four local teleporters (identical to those on freighters).
- Interact with one to transport to the dedicated Corvette Customization Room.
Step 1: Purchasing Your First Modules
Inside the customization room, you’ll find the central Design Terminal.
- If this is your first time, select “Purchase Modules”.
- The essential modules needed to build a basic, functional corvette are:
- Landing Gear (Your mandatory starting point)
- Habitation Module (Creates interior space)
- Cockpit
- Reactor (Powers the ship)
- Cost Note: Initial prices may seem high for new players. Focus on unit-making activities like farming or trading to fund your project.
Step 2: Designing and Building Your Corvette
Once you have the essential parts, return to the terminal and select “Create New Corvette”.
- Start with the Landing Gear: This must be placed first and serves as the foundation of your build.
- Connect Modules: Attach the Habitation Module, Cockpit, and Reactor to the landing gear or to each other. The layout is entirely up to your creativity.
- Save Your Design: If you need to leave to find more parts, you can exit and your unfinished project will be saved. When your design is complete, back out and select “Finalise Current Design.” This will officially add the corvette to your starship collection, taking up one slot.
Step 3: Customizing and Living Inside Your Corvette
The corvette’s unique feature is its fully explorable interior during flight.
- To Get Up: While piloting, open the Quick Menu (Down on D-pad for console, typically X by default on PC) and select the option to stand up.
- Free Movement: You can now walk around the interior space you’ve created.
- Decorate the Interior: Use the Build Menu (Z on PC) to place decorations, functional tech, and specialist terminals inside your ship, just like building a planetary base.
- Functional Additions: Install key items like the Mission Radar to launch missions directly from your ship, similar to those on the Space Anomaly (Nexus).
How to Find Rare and High-Quality Modules
The basic terminal only offers starter parts. To find advanced modules for more powerful and unique corvettes, you must explore:
- Planetary Salvaged Containers: Search for these on planet surfaces; they often contain ship blueprints.
- Defeat Pirates: Victorious space battles can reward you with salvaged modules.
- Loot Derelict Freighters: These are a prime source for high-end ship parts and technology.
- Complete Expeditions: Seasonal expeditions frequently offer unique corvette modules as rewards.
Important Limitations to Know
- Cannot Be Stored: As of the current update, corvettes cannot be stored or summoned like other starships. They must be actively used as one of your primary ships.
- Slot Limit: Each corvette occupies one of your starship slots, so plan your fleet accordingly.
