✈️ Fugitive Captured and Charged
Luis Francisco Soraniano, the second suspect in the killing of his cousin, his girlfriend, and their two children, is back in the United States. He was arrested in the Dominican Republic and extradited back to the U.S. this past Saturday.
He and his brother, Julio Pimentel Soraniano, are both accused of extremely serious crimes, including murder, burglary, kidnapping, and arson.
⚖️ Courtroom Appearance
On Monday, the 31-year-old Luis Francisco Soraniano appeared in court for his arraignment and entered a plea of not guilty. Loved ones of the victims were present in the courtroom for the emotional proceedings. To respect their privacy, cameras were not permitted inside.
A Look Back at the Crime
The case dates back to August 31st of last year, when the family was found deceased in their burning home on Nap Avenue. The victims were identified as Fry Yubaldo, his girlfriend Morangeli Moreno Santiago, and their two young children. Luis’s brother, Julio, was arrested just one week after the killings and has also pleaded not guilty.
Next Steps and Community Reaction
Both brothers are now expected to be tried together, with a trial date tentatively set for February. Luis is currently being held without bail in the Monroe County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 12th.
