Super Robot Wars Y: How to Add Custom Music (Windows & Steam Deck)

Want your favorite tracks blasting during battles in Super Robot Wars Y? Good news — the game makes it super easy to add your own MP3s. Whether you’re on Windows or playing on a Steam Deck, here’s the full step-by-step guide.

🎵 What Music Can You Use?

Any MP3 file will work. If you don’t want to spend time gathering tracks, Steam user VISITOR9x already uploaded a great compilation here.

💻 Adding Custom Music on Windows

  1. Navigate to the folder: C:/Users/<Your Windows Username>/AppData/LocalLow/Bandai Namco Entertainment/SRYMUSIC
  2. Drop your MP3 files directly inside this folder.
    🚨 Do not create subfolders.
  3. Important: The folder name must be SRYMUSIC (not SRWMUSIC).

Note: This folder is not inside your main Super Robot Wars Y directory.

🎮 Adding Custom Music on Steam Deck

The process is almost identical, but the path looks different. On Steam Deck, the Windows-style directory is mirrored here:

/home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1909950/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/LocalLow/Application Data/Bandai Namco Entertainment/SRYMUSIC
  • Again, just drop your MP3s in directly — no subfolders.
  • Double-check the folder name: must be SRYMUSIC.

⚙️ Enabling Custom Music In-Game

Once your files are in the right folder and you’ve loaded a save:

  1. Open Options > System > Sound Settings > BGM Selection.
  2. Choose the unit or attack you want to assign a track to.
  3. Switch “Sort Mode” with Q/E (keyboard) or LB/RB (controller).
  4. Pick your song — you can preview with F (keyboard) or Y (controller).
  5. Confirm and assign.
  6. To apply the same track to all attacks + unit theme, press Esc (keyboard) or Start (controller).

Done ✅ Your favorite music is now tied to your units.

🔑 Final Notes

  • You can only assign custom tracks to units you’ve already unlocked.
  • Album tags in MP3 files will organize songs into albums for easier browsing.
  • Keep your MP3 names clean so you can find them faster in-game.

👉 Now go drop some Gundam bangers or anime classics in your game and make your battles hit harder than ever.
