In a social media post on Friday, President Donald Trump announced that the United States government now “fully owns and controls 10% of INTEL.” Trump valued the shares at approximately $11 billion, stating that the U.S. “paid nothing” for them in what he described as a “great Deal for America and, also, a great Deal for INTEL.”
According to the post dated August 22, 2025, Trump claimed to have personally negotiated the deal with Lip-Bu Tan, whom he identified as the “Highly Respected Chief Executive Officer of the Company.”
Trump framed the acquisition as a matter of national importance, emphasizing that building “leading edge Semiconductors and Chips, which is what INTEL does, is fundamental to the future of our Nation.” He concluded the announcement with his signature slogan, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!“
